Nexus was pleased to welcome Matthew Patrick, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, to their offices this week.
During the visit, Matthew Patrick MP met with both the CEO, Joanne Barnes and Head of Therapeutic Services, Susan Ellison to hear first-hand about the vital work Nexus delivers to support individuals impacted by sexual abuse and abusive relationships across Northern Ireland.
The visit provided an important opportunity to highlight the realities faced by those affected by sexual abuse, and to discuss the role Nexus plays in addressing EVAWG (ending violence against women and girls). This includes delivering specialist counselling services, raising awareness, providing expert training such as Step Up, Step In, which supports young people to understand healthy relationships, respect, and boundaries.
Nexus continues to work at the forefront of supporting recovery and driving change – ensuring that those impacted by sexual abuse have access to the support they need, while also helping to inform policy and practice.
