Fundraise for Nexus

#BreakTheCycle

Fundraise for Nexus and help us change lives.

Here at Nexus, we have a vision of a society free from sexual abuse and abusive relationships. Our mission is to enable positive change for those impacted by sexual abuse and abusive relationships through supporting, informing, and influencing society. By fundraising for us, you can help us achieve our mission.

How can I fundraise for Nexus?

There are lots of ways to fundraise for Nexus, while also raising awareness of our work and specialist support services.

You can support us by organising your own activity or getting together with colleagues, classmates or friends. From coffee mornings and craft fairs, to sponsored challenges and quizzes, the possibilities are endless!

Alternatively, you could get involved fundraising by taking part in an existing event such as a marathon, fun run, or sponsored swim in your local area.

You can set up an online fundraising page via Enthuse, our trusted fundraising partner, in a matter of minutes by clicking here. By doing this, the funds you raise will be transferred into our account from Enthuse. We also accept funds donated to us via bank transfer and cheque.

If you’re looking for some fundraising inspiration or are planning to take part in an event to raise funds, please feel free to contact us.

Gift Aid

Did you know by adding Gift Aid to your donation, every gift you make to Nexus could be worth more at no extra cost or effort to you?

By simply ticking a box (if you donate online) or filling in a quick form (for offline donations), you can add 25p to every £1 you donate without incurring any extra cost. This process is known as Gift Aid and is paid to us through HMRC when we submit a claim. You don’t have to do anything else – it’s all handled between Nexus and HMRC because it’s a government initiative where we claim the tax back on your donation.

For example, if you donate £10 and tell us you’re eligible to add Gift Aid to, your donation will be worth £12.50 – and you don’t have to pay a penny more!

If you’re donating via cheque, cash, bank transfer, or any other method other than by clicking the ‘Donate’ button at the top of our website, you can still add Gift Aid to your donation by either filling out this secure online form or downloading this form, completing it, and returning it to us via email to communications@nexusni.org

Who is eligible for Gift Aid?

You’ll be eligible if you’re a UK tax payer and the Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you pay in the tax year we’re in is at least equal to the amount of all claimed Gift Aid on all your donations within that year. A tax year runs from 6th April in one year to 5th April the next year. If you end up paying less tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed by all charities on your donations in that tax year, you will have to pay the difference to HMRC. So, for example, if you donated £1,000 to charity in one tax year, and Gift Aid was paid on all those donations, this would equal £250 in Gift Aid; if you paid more than £250 in tax that year, you don’t have to pay any more tax, however if you paid less than this in tax, you would be responsible for paying the difference.

If you pay tax on your personal or occupational pension, stocks and shares, bank and building society savings accounts, rental income, or overseas and UK investment dividends, you are still eligible to add Gidt Aid to your donation even if you’re not employed.

Organisations cannot add Gift Aid to their donation, only individuals can do so, so if you’re planning on fundraising for us as a company, get in touch via email to communications@nexusni.org and we can chat to you about the best way to make your money go further.
