Support for Males Impacted by Abusive Relationships

The RESPECT Programme is a support programme available to adult males aged 18 and above in the Ards and North Down Council area of Northern Ireland who have been impacted by sexual abuse and/or abusive relationships – including domestic abuse.

By enrolling on the Programme, you will gain access to support, advice, and individual counselling. During counselling you will receive information on a range of other services provided by agencies such as Men’s Advisory Project, Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and Community Advice Ards and North Down (CAAND).

When you enrol in the RESPECT programme you will be offered one-to-one counselling with one of our expert counsellors. This can take place virtually or in our Regional Hub in Bangor.

Is the RESPECT Programme right for me?

If you are an adult male and have been impacted by one or more of the following, the Programme may be suitable for you:

• Emotional manipulation
• Threats
• Coercive, controlling behaviour
• Physical violence
• Financial abuse
• Sexual abuse e.g. assault, harassment or rape
• Psychological abuse
• Abuse via technology/online
• Verbal abuse
