Nexus has launched its Northern Ireland Assembly Elections Manifesto 2027, setting out five key areas for reform to address sexual abuse and abusive relationships across Northern Ireland.

Ahead of the 2027 Northern Ireland Assembly elections, Nexus is calling for meaningful, long-term action to prevent abuse, strengthen support and improve outcomes for people impacted by sexual abuse and abusive relationships.

The manifesto sets out five key areas for reform:

  • Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) – including investment, improved data sharing and early intervention.
  • Abuse of Power and Trust – strengthening legal protections and institutional accountability.
  • Support for Marginalised Groups – ensuring services are inclusive and culturally competent.
  • Online Harms – responding to growing forms of technology-facilitated sexual abuse, including AI-generated sexualised content.
  • Justice Reform – tackling delays, improving the experience of victims and addressing legislative gaps.

These areas sit within the five pillars of the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy: Partnership, Prevention, Children and Young People, Support and Provision, and Justice.

Drawing on Nexus’s frontline experience, policy and advocacy work, the manifesto sets out a range of proposals for legislative and systemic change, with a focus on prevention and lived experience.
