We are delighted to welcome Karen Gallagher as our interim CEO. Karen has taken over the reigns from Cara Cash-Marley and will be in the post for the next few months at least.
Karen comes to Nexus with a vast wealth of experience, having worked in the voluntary sector for over 21 years. Karen spent 15 of these years at Concern, where she started out in a fundraising role before working her way up to becoming overall NI Manager.
In 2015, seeking a new career challenge, Karen decided to diversify her skills and training. She completed the CO3 Interim Executive training course and secured a place on their panel.
Nexus is Karen’s 5th such placement, having previously spent periods with a children’s theatre company, two spells with NI Hospice – one of which as Director of Fundraising, and with SOS earlier this year.
Karen is excited to be joining Nexus. Speaking about her new role she said: “Nexus NI is a very progressive organisation. When Cara left there was big shoes to fill but I am very excited to be here.
“There’s a fantastic team here who are all very committed and who all work together very well”.
“I’m delighted that I will be at the helm, leading the organisation into it’s 35th year. It’s a wonderful opportunity and I look forward to helping continue to raise awareness of this amazing service, diversifying funding opportunities and being actively involved in the recruitment process of a permanent CEO to hopefully help put the charity in a strong position looking ahead to the next 35 years.”
Welcome to the team Karen, we are all very much looking forward to working with you.
