World Mental Health Day

In these difficult times and with our usual social interactions limited for the moment, it's more important than ever that we look after our mental and emotional wellbeing.

For World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10th October, Nexus is partnering with friends across social media to bring us together with a day of positive, and practical ideas & activities to support our mental health & wellbeing.

Nexus is Northern Ireland's specialist sexual trauma charity offering information and support to men, women and children affected by any form of sexual assault.

The impact of sexual assault is devastating. Nexus supports those affected through trauma informed activities and services that links trauma with mental and physical health. We enable people to come to terms with their trauma and move forward to lead more happy, healthy and productive lives.

It can often take years if not decades for people to disclose their abuse and feel ready to come forward to seek help. This can be due to a number of reasons including self-blame; shame; fear of not being believed, low self-esteem and feeling alone and isolated.

We are very aware that many people are still suffering in silence. This World Mental Health Day, you can help us break the silence by tuning in to our online wellbeing sessions, giving a donation and taking part in our virtual bucket collection and by coming together to raise awareness and speak out against sexual assault & trauma.
