Nexus in the Workplace

Charity partnerships are a great way for Nexus to reach people all over Northern Ireland and raise awareness of who we are and how we can help. By bringing Nexus into your workplace, you’re helping us break the silence on sexual violence and change lives affected by it. Your business and staff can work with Nexus in a variety of ways. We’d be delighted to meet up and discuss opportunities to work together, as well as the importance and impact of your support.

How we can work together

• PARTNERSHIP WITH A PURPOSE – Charity partnership
We’d love to be nominated as your workplace charity partner or work together to create a special partnership which meets our challenges, effects change and delivers on our shared goals.

Our dedicated fundraising and communications team will work closely with you to develop a calendar of activities and promote the partnership every step of the way.

It’s so much more than raising money – it’s also about breaking the silence on sexual violence and dismantling barriers that prevent survivors from speaking out and getting help.

• INVESTING IN PEOPLE – Workplace training
Nexus can offer a suite of professional training courses for your staff to help raise awareness of sexual violence and its effects; challenge myths and equip individuals with the appropriate knowledge and tools to deal with disclosure and bystander situations inside and outside of the workplace.

• BUILDING MORALE & HAVING FUN – Employee fundraising & volunteering
There are lots of great ways for your staff to raise money to support the work of Nexus while having fun, achieving personal goals and building team morale at the same time.

Examples of office fundraising events include a coffee morning or bake sale, a sponsored spin or dress down day. Your workplace could also organise a table quiz, Belfast marathon relay team or get involved in some of our charity challenge events including an abseil, zipline and skydive! We can also help to organise participation in overseas challenge treks!

There are also opportunities for employees to give their time to support our events, campaigns and awareness activities. Volunteering not only aids positive wellbeing for individuals but ultimately helps Nexus to help others.

• STANDING WITH SURVIVORS – Take our Break the Silence pledge
By taking our pledge – “We stand with victims of sexual violence and we want to break the silence” your business is demonstrating its commitment to challenging the taboos that surround sexual violence and playing a leading role in helping to remove the barriers that prevent survivors from coming forward and seeking help. Breaking the silence on sexual violence is a huge task and we can’t do it alone – we need your help! We can provide pledge boards for your workplace for staff to sign and include your business in our awareness campaigns.

• SMALL BUT MIGHTY – Payroll giving
Nexus is a small charity which is having a big impact locally, changing lives affected by sexual violence. By giving a donation direct from you pay, your small action can have a big impact. This regular gift enables us to plan for the future, develop our services and meet our clients’ needs.

Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to give on a tax free basis to Nexus. Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so every £1.00 you give will only cost you 80p, and if you’re a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p.

Speak to your payroll department and let them know you would like to donate to Nexus NI or contact us for more information.

• SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Sponsorship and donations in kind

Your business may prefer to sponsor one of our events, a particular service or awareness campaign. Sponsorship can provide excellent branding opportunities, generate unique PR and demonstrate your commitment to breaking the silence on sexual violence to your customers, staff and wider community.
We also greatly welcome one-off donations or gifts in kind. This may be through donating raffle prizes, or sharing your time or expertise to support our work and staff.
