It’s completely normal to have worries or questions when starting your healing journey. Beginning counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what to expect or how you’ll feel talking about your experiences.
Below, we’ve answered some of the common worries and questions our clients may have before starting counselling with us. We hope this information helps you feel more supported, reassured and prepared for your first session.
What if I’m not ready to talk?
That’s okay. You only need to share what feels comfortable.
What if I don’t remember everything?
Many people don’t remember every detail. There is no expectation that you will.
What if I don’t want to report to the police?
Accessing counselling does not mean you have to report what has happened. If we ever have a legal duty to share information, we will explain this to you wherever possible.
Can I change my mind?
Yes. We respect your choices and will support you in making decisions that feel right for you.
