World-renowned speakers will join service providers, victims and statutory agencies next week in a bid to address the future for survivors of sexual violence and abuse in Northern Ireland. The Nexus NI Annual Conference, taking place on Monday 4th February at the Dunsilly Hotel will address the future for Prevention, Protection and Prosecution for those affected by sexual violence. Held during Sexual Violence Week, the conference is aiming to open honest discussions about the future for those affected by sexual abuse, including addressing key areas regarding prosecution and access to trials. Celebrating 10th anniversary of Belfast Trust’s Domestic and Sexual Abuse support services.

Nexus NI were delighted to attend a celebration event on Monday 10th December to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust's Domestic and Sexual Abuse support services for staff.  The event also poignantly fell on the 70th anniversary of International Human Rights Day. Belfast Trust launched their domestic abuse support services on International Human Rights day in 2008 and were the first Trust in Northern Ireland to develop a policy and support service for staff and deliver it in partnership with Trade Union colleagues. Tangent club celebrate fundraising success for Nexus

  Local women from the newly established Tangent Club in Enniskillen are celebrating after raising an impressive £800 from their first fundraising event for Nexus NI. The establishment of the Tangent Club also gives Enniskillen the accolade of being the only town in Northern Ireland to have all 4 Clubs from the Round Table Family and offer local men and women aged 18 and over the opportunity to come together for fun, friendship and to support local causes. Local women in Enniskillen have come together to establish a new Tangent Club for women aged 45 years and over. Part of the 4 Club Round Table Family, the Tangent Club is about having fun, making new friendships and fundraising for local causes. The club has chosen Nexus NI as their charity of the year to support through various fundraising and awareness-raising activities, starting with a summer BBQ to celebrate their official Charter into the Tangent Association. Nexus launch client created film to #BreaktheSilence

The film project came about because both Nexus NI staff and our Co-Nexion clients are passionate about Breaking the Silence and what better way to do this than with some video recordings of real issues related to sexual violence and its impacts, using it as a positive educational tool for people working directly in this area. We worked with the production company JourneyFor, who taught our clients how to use media as a platform to portray their message.  Not only did participants enjoy learning how to use the filming equipment and how to go about recording a short film, but they all felt it was a valuable tool in their own ongoing therapeutic journey towards recovery.
