Celebrating 10th anniversary of Belfast Trust’s Domestic and Sexual Abuse support services.

Nexus
Nexus NI were delighted to attend a celebration event on Monday 10th December to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust's Domestic and Sexual Abuse support services for staff.  The event also poignantly fell on the 70th anniversary of International Human Rights Day. Belfast Trust launched their domestic abuse support services on International Human Rights day in 2008 and were the first Trust in Northern Ireland to develop a policy and support service for staff and deliver it in partnership with Trade Union colleagues. As a result of this service and workplace policy, Belfast Trust have been able to provide valuable practical advice and adjustments as well as emotional support for staff in the workplace.   This work has been recognised as best practice and the Trust…

Nexus launch client created film to #BreaktheSilence

Nexus
The film project came about because both Nexus NI staff and our Co-Nexion clients are passionate about Breaking the Silence and what better way to do this than with some video recordings of real issues related to sexual violence and its impacts, using it as a positive educational tool for people working directly in this area. We worked with the production company JourneyFor, who taught our clients how to use media as a platform to portray their message.  Not only did participants enjoy learning how to use the filming equipment and how to go about recording a short film, but they all felt it was a valuable tool in their own ongoing therapeutic journey towards recovery. Nexus
Laverys Bar in Belfast has nominated Nexus NI as one of its partners for the year ahead and has already begun raising funds through a donation of £1000 from a charity golf day at Belvoir Golf Club. Commenting on Laverys support, Bernard Lavery said: “When I heard about the work of Nexus, delivering specialist counselling and support to people who have suffered sexual violence, I thought it was a cause that Laverys could really help by raising both funds and vital awareness.  Unfortunately, sexual violence affects all areas of society and I am proud to pledge our support to stand with victims and lead the way in breaking the silence within the bar industry. I was shocked to learn that Nexus will be operating for 35 years come 2019 and…
