Title Facilitator

Nexus NI are looking to recruit an experienced Facilitator to work on our Co-Nexion project funded by The Big Lottery Fund.

The facilitator will work with clients who have completed counselling with Nexus NI:

  • Assist in development of local Nexus client forums by supporting former clients to join the forums, set the agenda and take leadership roles within the forums.
  • Coordinating and facilitating group work for the client forums and ensuring that resources are in place organising venues and coordinating resources.
  • To facilitate clients in further personal development for one year post counselling
  • To source suitable local training, support and opportunities for clients to connect to local communities and support them were required making those connections.
  • To raise awareness of Nexus NI working with client forums in local area.
  • Support and facilitate communications with clients and wider communication in a safe and risk free environment.
  • To assist in development of training for professionals in co-operation with client groups
  • To assist in the evaluation, development and delivery of personal development courses.
  • To facilitate support to clients while maintaining boundaries, managing risk and facilitate development of clients own support networks.
  • To work as part of the team at Nexus NI
  • To represent and consult with voluntary, community and statutory sectors within local area

Title Volunteer Counsellors

Job Information

The successful applicants will be required to have the following experience, qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Completion of a Level 4 or higher diploma in counselling course (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 100 hours of supervised counselling practice
  • The ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of counselling skills, theory and application
  • Basic knowledge of issues relating to sexual abuse
  • Basic knowledge of mental health issues
  • An ability to recognise and appropriately deal with risk
  • Membrship (or student membership) or BACP, NCS or ICAP

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with survivors of sexual abuse
  • Have engaged in personal therapy

Duties

  • To provide one to one counselling sessions for Nexus NI
  • To keep records of all client work and attendance at supervision
  • To adhere to the code of ethics of the BACP or equivalent.
  • To actively pursue personal development and growth as a counsellor
  • To have knowledge of and adhere to Nexus NI policies, procedures  and practise

Terms & conditions

  • Accountable to the Operations Manager & Clinical Manager
  • Clinical supervision will be provided by Nexus NI as required
  • Travel expenses will be payable
  • Notice period of one month on either side required.
  • Attendance at a formal induction and ongoing training will be required.

Selection procedure

  • Application by a Nexus NI application form only.  Monitoring form must be returned to the monitoring officer by post.
  • After short-listing suitable volunteer cousnelling will be invited for interview which will include a role play.
  • At least 2 references will be obtained.
  • Any appointment will be subject to an acceptable Access NI Enhanced Check.
