One of the founding members of our Client Forum, Sharon Henry, recently used her 50th birthday celebrations as a special way to raise funds for our work by foregoing gifts and asking instead for charitable donations. Sharon’s kind gesture has helped to raise a fantastic sum of £400!
Commenting on her fundraising efforts, Sharon said:
“As a member of the Nexus Client Forum, I’m very aware of the fantastic and life-saving work that they do for women, men and children all across Northern Ireland. Nexus currently has more than 600 people on its waiting list and I wanted to do whatever I could to help. I had a fantastic birthday party in the Thunderdome in Glengormley surrounded by family and friends and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make it even more special by making a donation in aid of Nexus.”
Karen Dunlop-Wainwright, Community Fundraising Lead with Nexus NI said:
“This was such a lovely fundraising idea by Sharon and we thank her so much for choosing to support us through her special birthday. For every pound invested in counselling at Nexus, there is £16 worth of social and economic benefit returned so this donation will go even further.
With demand for our specialist services continuing to increase, we rely on fundraised income to meet this demand, develop services and support our clients’ needs. Could you follow Sharon’s lead and give a gift in celebration, perhaps for a birthday, wedding or anniversary? For more information on how you can get involved and support our work please email firstname.lastname@example.org.”
